About Us

Sciences Po Alumni Inc. is a not-for-profit organization serving the Alumni of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (also known as Sciences Po) in the United States. We work in close coordination with Sciences Po and with the Global Sciences Po Alumni Association, which includes over 8,000 active members in 19 countries. In the United States, we have local chapters in New York, Washington DC, Chicago and Boston and expect to establish additional chapters in other areas soon.

We provide networking opportunities by organizing cultural and social events, debates and other academic and business activities. Past speakers include Henry R. Kravis, Founding Partner of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Co. and Baron Ernest-Antoine Seilliere, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Wendel.

We also provide the opportunity for Sciences Po Alumni to meet their peers in the States and keep in touch with their friends and faculty from rue Saint Guillaume. We assist in employment, internship or relocation needs. In addition, we provide scholarships to help students, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, to study at Sciences Po or in the United States.

President's Message

Dear Sciences Po Paris Alumni, Friends and Visitors:

Welcome to the site of Sciences Po Alumni, Inc., the not-for-profit organization which regroups those Alumni residing in the U.S. who have studied at Sciences Po Paris, their friends and supporters. Our Alma Mater is an international university located in France and a worldwide leader in social, economic and political science. It currently has in place exchange and cooperation programs with more than 60 colleges and universities in the United States. Past and present students and faculty who reside in America and their friends who come from all over the world are welcome to join us. We are reaching out to all those who are ready to live by the core values developed at Sciences Po, promote international understanding, train responsible citizens of the world and create a network of fraternal relations among alumni.

Our Association was established in 1957 and is a duly registered 501 (c) 3 corporation which allow our members and donors to benefit from some US tax exemptions. We work in close cooperation with Sciences Po in Paris, the US Sciences Po Fourdation in the United States and the Global Alumni Association in France which has over 8,000 active members in 19 countries.  Headquartered in New York, we have active active affiliates in Washuington DC, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta and San Francisco and expext to further expand our presence in more American cities soon.

We provide networking opportunities by organizing cultural and social events, debates and other academic and business activities. We could assist you in your employment or relocation needs. In addition, we give you the opportunity to meet fellow Sciences Po Alumni and keep in touch with your friends and faculty from rue Saint Guillaume. We are involved in some ambitious initiatives, including internship and scholarship programs, funded in part by an annual prestigious gala and would welcome your support.

Mission

Our fundamental mission is to advance the interests of Sciences Po. by:

Strengthening the community of the Sciences Po. alumni living in the United States, in a spirit of solidarity and loyalty;

Educating the public about Sciences Po. to give more visibility to, and raise interest in, Sciences Po. in the United States;

Recruiting students to attend Sciences Po. by providing information about the school around the country; and

Fostering integration of our French community in, and dialog with, our host country, the United States.

We endeavor to achieve these goals through a number of initiatives:

Educating the public about the school by organizing events in the pure Sciences Po. tradition, with a focus on politics, international relations, geopolitical and cultural issues. Events are open to members, their guests and anyone interested in the topic or in our community. Events feature:

  • High profile speakers;
  • Roundtables with a Speaker and drinks;
  • Topical Panel Discussions on Industry Specific Topics;
  • Breakfast meetings with a Speaker.

Helping students finding an internship or a first job in the United States through our Internship Program, thanks to the solidarity of our alumni. And, sponsoring American students to go study at Sciences Po. in Paris through our Fellowship Program, thanks also to the solidarity of our alumni community.

Enabling convenient networking opportunities that encourage members to get acquainted, forge business contacts, make new friends, keep up with old friends, have fun, facilitate access, and pursue shared interests in a stimulating, receptive, supportive, and collegial environment.

Providing a package of benefits that includes discounted admission to Club events for each member and a guest, regular e-mail messages informing members of upcoming events, a frequently updated website and event calendar, an expanding number of discounts on theatre tickets, retail establishments, services and entertainment events, and the opportunity to join our industry committees, management, or Board of Directors.

Offering continuing education programs to help members updating their professional knowledge and to develop new skills.

Membership - Eligibility and Refund

The eligibility requirements for membership in the Association are determined by the Association in its sole discretion. Membership purchases are subject to academic verification where appropriate, and the Association reserves the right to cancel the membership of any non-qualifying member at any time. Any refund of membership fees by a member whose membership is subsequently cancelled for lack of eligibility will be at the sole discretion of the Association.

Members Directory

The Association does not give, sell, or disclose any member information to any third-party sites, companies or organizations. Refunds, Membership Fees and Events Membership fees and events tickets are not refundable. If the Association cancels or postpones an event, a full refund or credit for a future event will be provided, at the choice of the purchaser. The Association however does not refund cancelled or rescheduled events offered through this website but which are not organized by the Association.

Legal Status of Sciences Po. Alumni

Sciences Po. Alumni is a not-for-profit corporation incorporated in 1987 in the State of New York under the name: "The Association of Sciences Po. Alumni, Inc." The 15 members of the Board are Sciences Po. alumni residing in the United States. The Board of Sciences Po. Alumni independently takes upon actions which further the Association's charitable purposes, including educating the general public about the Sciences Po. by organizing events open to all on topics at the core of the Sciences Po.'s curriculum, by providing internship opportunities in the U.S. to Sciences Po. students and by purporting to offering scholarships American students to go study at Sciences Po.

In March 2007, the Association amended its Certificate of Incorporation and its By-Laws to reflect the Association's new focus and commitment to the charitable purposes laid out above. The Association is currently applying with the IRS to obtain the status of tax-exempt charitable organization pursuant to Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, as amended, which will allow deductibility of all donations. Until the Association has obtained the tax-exempt status, the Association has entered into a Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement with the French Institute-Alliance Francaise and you can as of now make tax-deductible contributions by writing a check to the "Sciences Po. Alumni Fund" and mailing it to the Asssociation's Treasurer, Remi Forgeas, Mazars LLP, 135 West 50th Street, 12th floor, New York, NY 10020-1299.
